Seawatch - Thursday, October 12, 2017

Let there be seabirds!!! Yesterday was QUITE the blustery day, but it doesn't seem to bother the seabirds one bit (maybe they even like it??). While we didn't have as much diversity as Wednesday, the number of scoters made a massive leap with just under 7,000 Black Scoter and over 2,000 Surf Scoter (plus three White-winged Scoters, ooooohhhh). It was a super fun day (even with the crazy wind and waves).

Yesterday's totals: http://www.trektellen.nl/count/view/1747/20171012

And now for the photos (awesome waves included).

Why yes, I would say the jetty IS unsafe with those crazy waves.
American Oystercatchers made passes throughout the day.
A mix of Black and Surf Scoters zooming by.
Brown Pelicans certainly don't seem phased by the wind or crashing waves.
The one flock of Double-crested Cormorants we saw all day.
Two Common Eiders
Look out, little Sanderling!!
