A stark contrast to Monday's total of 12 raptors! We had just over 700 birds counted today, and 169 were Peregrine Falcons, our first day with over 100 of these gorgeous predators. While the flight line was centered north of the platform, we still had close views of all three falcon species, as well as lots of other land birds throughout the day. Check out the totals below. We're slowly creeping up to 20,000 hawks for the season.

A lovely specimen of a Cooper's Hawk. Notice the rounded tail, protruding head,
and clean/crisp streaking on the breast. |
