Hawkwatch, 1 October 2016

Today marks the first day in October. We had rainy conditions all day long with continued northeast winds. The first two birds of the day were American Pipits flying high overhead in the drizzly air. Strong gusts of wind tested many migrating birds as the day progressed. Smaller birds fluttered aggressively into the headwinds as Merlin and Peregrines sheared through the air with ease.

There is a likely chance of no rain tomorrow. This looks promising, as we've been experiencing some daily rain for almost a week straight. Bring on the birds and the mid-autumn raptors. See you at the hawkwatching platform!
