Despite westerly winds in advance of the front passing through Cape May this afternoon, there was practically nothing up on the radar last night so expectations for this morning were low. And as predicted, very few passerines were flying besides a handful of warblers and blackbirds. The highlight of the morning was the arrival of our first American Pipits of the fall as three individuals passed overhead flying north.
We got unlucky with the timing of this front passing through during the day instead of overnight, but tomorrow morning should be interesting as good numbers of birds should be aloft on NE winds overnight (provided that we don’t get rained out!).
As always, you can find the link to the official count on Trektellen here and the complete eBird checklist here.
Bring on Day 54!
