Great Scott! It was an incredible day at the Dike. Numbers of birds were extraordinary, with over 36,000 individuals were tallied by the end of the six hour count. Yellow-rumped Warblers accounted for the vast bulk of the flight, but there was still good diversity, and Northern Flickers, American Robins and Red-breasted Nuthatches put in good showings. A White-breasted Nuthatch and a Yellow-billed Cuckoo were cool flyouts as well. Accipiters were streaming north by the hundreds, and you couldn't look around without seeing one.
