Another fun day at the seawatch today. It was a day that kept me on my toes, as there were definite spurts and lulls of activity. Scoters and cormorants were again the birds that moved in numbers, along with a sprinkling of other species.
Highlights were 14 White-winged Scoters (8 of which were together in a large scoter flock), 4 Blue-winged Teal, and 17 Greater Scaup. A lone female King Eider flew south at the end of the day, which was really awesome.
As hard as it is to believe, the calendar says it is getting toward the end of October, and that means it is time for some serious numbers to be passing the seawatch. I hope to see many of you up there in the next few weeks, along with lots of birds!
