Morning Flight Friday October 15, 2010

Extremely high winds overnight and this morning reduced the Morning Flight to a trickle, with a handful of Yellow-rumped Warblers and some Blackpoll Warblers braving the inhospitable conditions. 2 southbound Cattle Egrets were the species highlight, and a Black-throated Green Warbler flying out was the passerine highlight. There was also a good movement of Black Scoters coming out of Delaware Bay, and one flock was accompanied by a male Greater Scaup.

This Yellow-rumped Warbler dropped onto the Dike this morning and foraged out of the strong wind for several minutes before taking even more cover in the surrounding vegetation.
