Winds light from the SW/S in the morning and then calm in the afternoon. Temps reached 46F. Raptor Observations: Slow day with harriers and accipiters making the count; a few buteos appeared during periods of sun. Most interesting was observing a Cooper's Hawk(Adult) attempting to drown a Ruddy Duck. After a minute of actually sitting in the water, it was a failed attempt and the Ruddy a bit dazed swam away. Non-raptor Observations: Tundra Swan(6) flew over, American Bittern(3) on pond, Cave Swallow(1), Dicksisel(1) feeding with house sparrows, Lesser Black-backed Gull(1), Eurasian Wigeon(1), Wood Duck(2) and Hooded Mergansers(13) Predictions: Rain very likely. Winds South 18-23mph and temps reaching 60F.
