This past Wednesday was a doozy at the Avalon Seawatch with the highest single day count the season had seen (but don't worry, David shattered it yesterday haha). We counted over 36,000 birds on Wednesday. While Black & Surf Scoters and Double-crested Cormorants dominated, it was excellent diversity as well.
Thursday was much quieter but we still had 13,000 birds counted. You know the Seawatch is getting good when 13,000 birds in one day is considered slow and steady.
Many thanks to everyone who came out to help and have fun! 36,000 birds is a lot to manage by yourself.
Feel free to check out the Trektellen links to see all the details and/or the CMBO link to easily see season totals and single-day high counts.
