Seawatch - Friday, November 3, 2017

Today was a good day with a steady, constant flight throughout the  day.  It was a warm day with southwest and SSW winds.  Over 16,000 birds flew down the coast past Avalon today, with a nice push of scaup mixed in with thousands of scoters.  Nineteen White-winged Scoters spread throughout the day were nice surprises for visitors, and a few Bufflehead, Red-breasted Mergansers, Redhead, American Wigeon, and a single Long-tailed Duck kept the flocks interesting.

We are currently in our peak season, so expect more good flights to come!  Sunday, in particular, is looking to be good with southeast winds.  I expect tomorrow afternoon to be really busy too, if the winds shift to the east as is predicted.  Hope to see you all soon!
