Today was a very enjoyable day at the seawatch with steady migration throughout the day. Good numbers of scoters (with Black Scoters dominating), Red-throated Loons, Northern Gannets, and Double-crested Cormorants.
The day's highlights included 9 Common Eiders, 19 White-winged Scoters, 4 Long-tailed Ducks, 2 Bufflehead, 1 Common Goldeneye, and a Ruddy Duck leading a scoter flock. Non-waterbird highlights included 5 Pine Siskins, and 13 Snow Buntings that flew by! Two Brown Pelicans flew by going north - getting late.
The local raft that has been developing recently today contained all three scoter species (including 2 White-winged Scoters) and 12 Common Eiders. The Purple Sandpiper continues on the jetty.
