It was a really great day today at the seawatch! A total of 17,693 migrants were counted, with nice diversity and big numbers of a few species.
Scoters put in a good show, with Black Scoters (5211) dominating. Today was a great day for both Red-throated Loons (3871) and Northern Gannets (3123), as both were streaming by for most of the day. Lots of gannets were also feeding throughout the day.
Other highlights included a flock of 34 Tundra Swans with 2 Snow Geese that was later seen from the hawkwatch (81 Tundra Swans were counted total today), 10 Ring-necked Ducks, 14 Common Eider, 47 White-winged Scoters, 3 Common Goldeneye, 16 Hooded Mergansers, and 7 Ruddy Ducks.
Non-waterbird highlight of the day was 3 Cave Swallows!
