Morning Flight - 31 August 2012

The flight diminished from recent days and few birds were flying.  The overwhelming morning highlight was Cape May County's first American Golden-Plover of the fall.  A molting adult flew into the mudflats atop the dredge spoils at Higbee Beach for a few minutes before a Cooper's Hawk scattered the shorebirds.  The golden-plover took off and was last seen winging its way across the Delaware Bay.
