Unfavorable winds continue to blanket Cape May. There has been no appreciable songbird morning flight at Higbee Beach for the past four days. There is, however, a nice flock of migrants that has been seen regularly in the first field (just south of the parking lot) at Higbee for four days in a row. This group includes a female Golden-winged Warbler, several Blue-winged Warblers, and a couple of hybrids - a very interesting flock if you can track them down.
Though few birds flew out this morning (<20 warblers total), a Prothonotary and a Wilson's Warbler were among them, adding some spicy diversity to an overall lackluster count. The impoundment on top of the Dike has lost most of its hurricane water, but it did host a pretty Buff-breasted Sandpiper yesterday (2 September) morning.
