Another shot of yesterday's quiz bird- if you look at the open wing you can see very small white-based primary feathers, and when bunched together they make a white patch on the closed wing...

A surprisingly good flight was had at the dike today- Light north winds brought some more migrants here, but locally the winds switched to the east. The highlight(s!) of the morning were a female Hooded Warbler, a Clay-colored Sparrow, and a Lincoln's Sparrow!

Fly away! A Northern Flicker tries it's best to avoid being breakfast to a Cooper's Hawk.

Adult male Black-and-white Warbler
A Clay-colored Sparrow was the first highlight of three good birds at the dike today.
A female Hooded Warbler briefly perching before sallying out while a Brown Thrasher looks on.


And lastly, a Lincoln's Sparrow feeding on seeds for a bit up top!
