I was really surprised at the magnitude of the flight this morning given the easterly component to the wind- around 900 warblers and over 400 Northern Flickers flew out at the Higbee Dike. Late season birds like Blue-headed Vireo, Dark-eyed Junco, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Golden-crowned Kinglet, etc all made appearances, giving the morning a very October-like feel. The 52 F temperatures helped as well.

Northern Flickers came through in big numbers today - 416 zipped by the Dike, and over 1000 were counted along the bayshore in Villas (Tom Johnson, Higbee Beach).
