Morning Flight, 17 August 2016

This morning's local wind forecast was for a southeast direction, but at the Higbee Dike winds were from the southwest and perhaps that helped with the visible migration.  The flight was small-ish but active with swallows and kingbirds putting on an aerial show.  The species highlights came in the form of charismatic shorebirds/waders.  Early on two splendiferous American Avocets flew by and later on, my wife Kashi's absolute favorite bird in the whole world,-- Piping Plover.
