Avalon Seawatch, 9 December 2016

It was a very cold day at the seawatch.  The winds blew from the northwest today at 12mph with cloud coverage that built up throughout the day.  There was a consistent flight of Canada geese, 391 flew by making it our highest single day count of geese so far this season!  The top species seen today were Northern Gannet, Canada Goose, and a mix of scoters.  The total number of birds seen today was 2,447.  Check out the chart below for the full data set.

Our total number of birds seen so far this season is 743,475, which surpasses the 700,000 bird average we generally see each year! The seawatch is ending on the 22nd, so come visit us soon between 8th and 9th street in Avalon!
