Avalon Seawatch - November 12, 2011

A surprisingly strong and diverse duck flight was the story today at Avalon, with 23 species of waterfowl tallied on a day with a strong breeze out of the south/southwest. Bufflehead and Ring-necked Duck were particularly notable, while increasing numbers of Long-tailed Ducks and two more Common Goldeneye were signs of things to come. Three Red-necked Grebes were also noteworthy, including one individual that spent some time sitting on the water this afternoon before continuing on its way.
